On June 9, 2023, Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO), along with full Committee Ranking Member Rick Larsen (D-WA), Aviation Subcommittee Chairman Garret Graves (R-LA), and Aviation Subcommittee Ranking Member Steve Cohen (D-TN), introduced H.R. 3935, the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act, bipartisan legislation to reauthorize the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and aviation safety and infrastructure programs for the next five years. On June 14, 2023, the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee approved H.R. 3935 by a unanimous 63 to 0 vote. The House of Representatives then approved the bill by a vote of 351 to 69 on July 20, 2023.
America’s aviation system and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are the world’s gold standard, and the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee is working to reauthorize the programs of the FAA before the end of Fiscal Year 2023 and the expiration of the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 on September 30, 2023. Passing this legislation is critical to ensuring a robust and vibrant future for our aviation system and to the United States remaining the gold standard.
