A special panel of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee focusing on public-private partnerships will hold a roundtable policy discussion next week on case studies in public-private partnerships (P3s).

The Panel on Public-Private Partnerships is chaired by U.S. Rep. John J. Duncan, Jr. (R-TN), and U.S. Rep. Michael Capuano (D-MA) serves as the ranking member.  The panel is tasked with examining the use of and opportunities for public-private partnerships (P3s) across all modes of transportation, economic development, public buildings, water, and maritime infrastructure and equipment.

Today, governments at all levels face challenges to maintain and rebuild the nation’s infrastructure.  As an alternative to the traditional public procurement, a number of states and local governments have entered into P3s to deliver projects.  The purpose of the roundtable is to discuss case studies of P3s across the United States. Members will hear from a toll road developer and operator, a state legislator, and a consulting and construction firm that has been involved in a number of P3s.

The roundtable, entitled “Case Studies in Public-Private Partnerships,” is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11th in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building.

Participants:

  • Greg Kelly, Global Chief Operating Officer, Parsons Brinckerhoff
  • Jennifer Aument, Group General Manager North America, Transurban
  • Terri Austin, State Representative, Indiana General Assembly
