Graves Statement on Passage of Government Funding BillWashington, DC – Statement of Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO) following today’s House approval of H.R. 6500, legislation to continue funding the federal government, including federal surface transportation programs, through December 11th: “Passing a multi-year surface transportation reauthorization bill before the end of this Congress remains a top priority for me and the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. However, today’s House passage of the continuing resolution was important to prevent any lapse in federal surface transportation programs and to ensure the continued operation of the federal government in general. The Committee overwhelmingly approved the bipartisan BUILD America 250 Act (H.R. 8870) on May 22nd, and I look forward to moving this bill through the legislative process and working with the Senate to complete a long-term bill that invests in America’s roads, bridges, and other surface infrastructure, cuts red tape in the project process, and ensures that states have the certainty and flexibility to carry out the projects most critical to them.” |
