Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Ranking Member Sam Graves (R-MO) today announced the hiring of Ryan Hambleton as staff director of the Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment.

“Ryan’s years of work in Congress and the Executive Branch have equipped him with extensive knowledge of the legislative process, regulatory implementation, and congressional oversight, which are all critical to successfully leading the Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee,” Graves said.

“Looking ahead to the next Water Resources Development Act and other Subcommittee issues this Congress, I’m confident he will play a critical role in shepherding through bipartisan, bicameral legislation for our nation’s ports, waterways, and flood control infrastructure that will help strengthen our global competitiveness, grow the economy, move goods throughout the country and abroad, protect communities, and create jobs.”

Prior to joining the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Hambleton served during the Trump Administration as a Deputy Assistant Secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks at the U.S. Department of the Interior, where he helped oversee the National Parks Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Before that, he worked on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform as a senior professional staff member and ultimately as staff director for the Subcommittee on the Interior, Energy, and Environment. In these roles, he planned and executed hearings, reports, investigations, and other Committee activities on matters dealing with the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Energy, Department of the Interior, and other federal agencies.
