A Congressional subcommittee roundtable in New York City next week will examine opportunities for saving taxpayers money by reducing federal lease costs in the Northeastern United States.

Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management Subcommittee Chairman Lou Barletta (R-PA) will lead next week’s roundtable.  The meeting is a continuation of the Subcommittee’s focus on General Services Administration (GSA) leasing, the large number of leases that are soon expiring, and the opportunity to save taxpayer dollars through long-term deals and reducing space.  Since the beginning of last Congress, the Committee has saved more than $2.5 billion by approving GSA leases and other projects that reduce and consolidate space.  This roundtable will focus on GSA’s Region 2, which is based in New York City, and will include regional representatives from GSA and GSA tenant agencies with a large number of leases expiring in the region.

The roundtable, entitled “Opportunities for Taxpayer Savings: Federally Leased Office Space in GSA’s Northeast Region,” is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 in the Jacob K. Javits Federal Office Building, 6th Floor, Conference Rooms A/B, 26 Federal Plaza, New York, NY.

Members of the news media and the public can attend the roundtable after being cleared by building security.  Members of the news media please RSVP to Justin.Harclerode@mail.house.gov by email or phone (202) 225-9446.
