This roundtable of the Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management Subcommittee, chaired by U.S. Rep, Lou Barletta (R-PA), will examine opportunities for saving taxpayers money by reducing federal lease costs in the Northeastern United States.

This meeting is a continuation of the Subcommittee’s focus on General Services Administration (GSA) leasing, the large number of leases that are soon expiring, and the opportunity to save taxpayer dollars through long-term deals and reducing space.  Since the beginning of last Congress, the Committee has saved more than $2.5 billion by approving GSA leases and other projects that reduce and consolidate space.  This roundtable will focus on GSA’s Region 2, which is based in New York City, and will include regional representatives from GSA and GSA tenant agencies with a large number of leases expiring in the region.

Roundtable Participants:

  • Mr. Frank Santella, Regional Commissioner, Public Buildings Service, U.S. General Services Administration
  • Mr. Jeffery Orner, Chief Readiness Support Officer, U.S. Department of Homeland Security
  • Mr. Fred Maurin, Regional Commissioner, New York, Social Security Administration
  • Mr. Thomas W. Huba, Acting Associate Director, Real Property Management, Internal Revenue Service
