Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA) next week will lead a team of Pennsylvania Members of Congress, T&I Committee members, state officials, and transportation secretaries from across the U.S. for two days of meetings and events focusing on the state of infrastructure in Pennsylvania and America, the federal-state partnership in infrastructure and the Nation’s competitiveness, and the importance of Congress passing a long-term surface transportation bill.

Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA) this week will lead a team of Pennsylvania Members of Congress, T&I Committee members, state officials, and transportation secretaries from across the U.S. for two days of meetings and events focusing on the state of infrastructure in Pennsylvania and America, the federal-state partnership in infrastructure and the Nation’s competitiveness, and the importance of Congress passing a long-term surface transportation bill.

Events for the Committee’s Pennsylvania Roadshow (#PAroadshow) will begin in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, April 7th, travel to Altoona and Harrisburg, and wrap up in Reading in eastern Pennsylvania on Wednesday, April 8thA complete list and description of the public meetings and events is below and is also available here.

Shuster’s committee is responsible for oversight of and legislation authorizing the federal transportation and infrastructure programs.  One of the Transportation Committee’s highest priorities this year is a bill to strengthen highways, bridges, transit infrastructure, and highway safety programs.  The Roadshow and similar events outside of Washington, DC will continue to help the Committee explore the country’s infrastructure needs, and gather perspectives from states, local officials, businesses, and job creators about how to make federal transportation programs work more effectively, improve the flow of commerce across the country, and keep America globally competitive.  Transportation secretaries from other states are joining Shuster and Committee Members to discuss efforts at the state level that are necessary or are already in place to improve transportation project delivery and maximize investments in roads, bridges, and other infrastructure.

Schedule of Roadshow Events for Tuesday, April 7, 2015 (all times Eastern Daylight Time)

8:00 AM press conference at Greenfield Bridge in Pittsburgh (Allegheny County) on the need to strengthen PA and U.S. infrastructure.
- Directions to event location: on I-376 eastbound, pull off to the right after passing under the Greenfield Bridge.  A large, yellow PennDOT truck will be parked along the highway immediately before the pull-off area on the right. Directly past the PennDot truck will be parking on the right in the pull-off area.  Location is just prior to the Squirrel Hill Tunnel.  A podium and microphone will be provided.

10:15 AM press conference at Tide Bridge in Homer City (Indiana County) on the need to strengthen PA and U.S. infrastructure.
- Directions to event location: adjacent to 346 Yellowcreek Street, Homer City, PA 15748, and also next to the Homer City Water Treatment Plant.  A podium and microphone will be provided.

12:30 PM Transportation Listening Session in Altoona (Blair County) to gather input from local business leaders on the state of our infrastructure, how the recent advent of I-99 has impacted the region and businesses, and what is needed to ensure the U.S. remains economically competitive.
