Shuster to Host Twitter Townhall on Water Resources Reform Legislation and Why WRRDA Matters for Jobs, Trade, and CompetitivenessOn Tuesday, September 17th at 4:30 p.m., Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA) will answer questions on Twitter about the Water Resources Reform and Development Act of 2013 (WRRDA), water resources reform legislation that cuts federal red tape and bureaucracy, streamlines the infrastructure project delivery process, promotes fiscal responsibility, and strengthens our water transportation networks, improve America’s competitiveness, and create jobs. Yesterday, Shuster was joined by Committee Ranking Member Nick J. Rahall, II (D-WV), Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee Chairman Bob Gibbs (R-OH), and Subcommittee Ranking Member Tim Bishop (D-NY) in introducing the bipartisan legislation – H.R. 3080 – in the House of Representatives. Starting today, use the hashtag #WRRDA to submit questions about the bill, and Chairman Shuster will answer them on at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday from the Committee’s Twitter account (@Transport). In the following short video, Chairman Shuster explains the importance of the Water Resources Reform and Development Act and why, despite its policy-focused name, it matters to every American , the Nation’s economy, jobs, and our ability to remain globally competitive: “With so much going on in our country and in the world today, conveying to our constituents the importance of a bill to improve water transportation infrastructure can be challenging,” Shuster said. “But the fact is transportation and infrastructure impact our everyday lives, and often in ways that we don’t necessarily think about while we’re getting ready for work, getting the kids off to school, or getting supper on the table.
