Chairman Graves Statement on Kansas City Southern-Canadian Pacific Merger“Great news for job creation and the economy”Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO) today issued the following statement following the newly approved merger of Kansas City Southern and Canadian Pacific railroads: “The merger between the Kansas City Southern and Canadian Pacific railroads is great news for job creation and the economy in the Kansas City region, our state, and beyond. “This merger has enormous potential to promote increased competition among railroads and other transportation modes, improve commerce and access to markets, and streamline domestic and cross-border movement of goods. This is especially critical at a time when delays and backlogs continue to trouble our Nation’s supply chain. “I appreciate the Surface Transportation Board’s thoughtful and deliberate consideration of this proposal, and for ultimately making a decision that will benefit American consumers, freight transportation, the region, and the country.” ### |
