Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Ranking Member Sam Graves (R-MO) released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed Speaker Pelosi’s reconciliation bill:

“Speaker Pelosi’s goal of moving our country toward socialism just got one step closer to becoming reality with the passage of a multi-trillion-dollar tax and spending package in the House.  This hyper-partisan, radical legislation comes at the absolute worst time.  Inflation just hit a three-decade high, gas prices are soaring at 50% above last year, home heating costs are skyrocketing, and grocery bills are out of control.  President Biden’s tone-deaf assurance that this grim economic situation is temporary rings hollow to Americans who are paying 30% more for their turkey this Thanksgiving and facing the prospect of empty store shelves at the holidays.  Instead of prioritizing our country’s most urgent concerns like the supply chain crisis or unchecked inflation, today the Majority doubled down on their socialist agenda. It is now up to the Senate to stop this madness and say enough is enough.”
