Sam Graves Selected to Return as Republican Leader of the T&I CommitteeCommittee on Transportation and Infrastructure Ranking Member Sam Graves (R-MO) has been selected once again by Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives to serve as the Committee’s Republican leader in the next Congress. “I am humbled by the trust my Republican colleagues have placed in me, and I am honored to continue serving as the Republican leader of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure,” Graves said. “Since coming to Congress nearly two decades ago, I first fought to serve on and now lead this Committee for Republicans because America’s infrastructure underpins the entire economy – a fact that’s been more evident than ever during this year’s COVID-19 pandemic. “Next Congress, we need to find consensus-driven, realistic solutions for an overdue long-term reauthorization of programs to fix our roads, bridges, and other surface transportation infrastructure. We need to continue investing in our ports, waterways, flood control, and other water resources improvements. We need to reauthorize the lapsed federal pipeline safety program, and more. We all expect infrastructure to be a major issue again next year, but if many of the same failed partisan policies of the recent past are simply dusted off and rammed through the House again, they won’t be any more successful in the 117th Congress than they were in the 116th. “I look forward to working together with my colleagues in the House and Senate to improve our infrastructure and support American jobs throughout our transportation sector.” |
