Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Ranking Member Sam Graves (R-MO) today released the following statement regarding the final rule to modernize outdated National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) regulations, as announced by White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) Chairman Mary B. Neumayr:

“The slow, inefficient, and costly federal review and permitting processes continue to be an impediment to the improvement of America’s infrastructure.  I commend the Administration for its efforts to modernize the decades-old NEPA process.  Committee Republicans agree with this necessary step, which is why we included similar streamlining provisions in our surface transportation reauthorization bill, the STARTER Act.  Updating NEPA will save taxpayers’ money while maintaining necessary protections for the environment, public safety, and human health.”
