House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA) released the following statement today on the passing of former Congressman and T&I Member Howard Coble of North Carolina:

“I am truly saddened by the loss of Congressman Coble, a man who served his constituents, the Congress, and his country with dedication and civility for so many years.  Howard served in the Coast Guard during the Korean War, and then in the Coast Guard Reserve for two decades, retiring with the rank of captain.  His knowledgeable support and advocacy for the Coast Guard was just one of the traits that made him such a respected member of the Transportation Committee, and I was pleased when Congress chose to honor his service by naming the last Coast Guard authorization law after Howard.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
