U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Chairman Bill Shuster statement on an agreement between Pennsylvania and Amtrak on maintaining the rail service’s Pennsylvanian route:

“I am pleased that Amtrak and the Commonwealth came together to preserve Amtrak’s Pennsylvanian service.  From the start, I urged both Pennsylvania and Amtrak to sit down and come up with a plan that makes sense for both parties.  We reformed federal law in 2008 to ensure States had more authority in the process while making Amtrak more accountable. This is an example of how partnerships between States and Amtrak can produce savings while maintaining service.”
