Full Committee to Hold Markup on Thursday

Washington, DC – The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee will hold a Full Committee markup this Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 10:00 am in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building to consider the following measures:

H.R. 5294 – Treating Barriers to Prosperity Act of 2018 – clarifies that funding for the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) may be used to address the opioid crisis in Appalachia and to mitigate impacts on the region’s workforce and job growth.  To help address the opioid crisis, the legislation clarifies ARC funds may be used to facilitate the sharing of best practices among the states; support programs designed to eliminate or reduce the harm to the workforce and economic growth; attract and retain health care services, businesses, and workers; and develop relevant infrastructure, including broadband, to support telemedicine.

H.R. 3288 – Northern Border Regional Commission Reauthorization Act of 2017 – reauthorizes the economic development Commission and makes necessary changes to the Commission

H. Con. Res. 115 – Authorizing the use of the Capitol Grounds for the National Peace Officers Memorial Service and the National Honor Guard and Pipe Band Exhibition

H. Con. Res. 113 – Authorizing the use of Capitol Grounds for the Greater Washington Soap Box Derby

General Services Administration Capital Investment and Leasing Program Resolutions – 11 GSA lease prospectuses, four special emphasis program prospectuses, and one acquisition, which will result in a savings of $71 million for the taxpayers

H.R. 4177 – PREPARE Act of 2017 – helps identify and manage the risks of extreme weather events and increase resiliency and coordination.  The legislation will increase agency planning and preparedness by working with local and state planners to identify regional issues and facilitate the adoption of resiliency, preparedness, and risk management best practices to be shared across all levels of government.

H.R. 5319 – To transfer Coast Guard property in the Town of Jupiter Island, Florida, for inclusion in Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge

H.R. 5326 – Maritime Technical Corrections Act of 2018 – makes minor technical corrections to the United States Code pertatining to the U.S. Coast Guard (Title 14) and shipping (Title 46) to update these titles and make them easier to read for the public and Congress

H.R. 4673 – Promoting Women in the Aviation Workforce Act – promotes, encourages, and supports women to pursue careers in aviation in the United States
