U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao will testify on issues related to the authorization and reform of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) during a hearing of the full Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure next week.

Comprehensive FAA authorization and reform is a must-do piece of legislation for the 115th Congress.  In preparation for developing and taking up a transformational FAA bill, the full Committee and Aviation Subcommittee have held hearings this year focused on air transportation, manufacturing, airports, new entrants and innovations, and the need for air traffic control reform.  This purpose of next week’s hearing is to receive the Secretary’s testimony on the administration’s priorities for FAA reform and authorization.

The hearing of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, chaired by U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster (R-PA), is entitled, Building a 21st Century Infrastructure for America: Federal Aviation Administration Authorization,” and is scheduled for Thursday, June 8, 2017, at 9:30 a.m., in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building.  Secretary Chao will be the hearing’s only witness.

More information about the hearing, including testimony, additional background information, and live webcast, will be posted here as it becomes available.
