Washington, DC – The Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment will hold a hearing next week to examine the status of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) implementation of its integrated planning policy.  The Subcommittee will focus on ways EPA can work with states and municipalities to develop integrated stormwater and wastewater requirements to achieve greater flexibility for communities to meet their Clean Water Act compliance obligations and maximize their limited resources to benefit to the communities they serve.

This hearing of the Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment, chaired by U.S. Rep. Garret Graves (R-LA), is entitled, “Building a 21st Century Infrastructure for America:  Improving Water Quality through Integrated Planning.”  The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017, in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building.

The Subcommittee will hear testimony from the following witnesses:

• Hon. Pete Buttigieg, Mayor, City of South Bend, Indiana; on behalf of the U.S. Conference of Mayors
• Hon. Johnny L. DuPree, Ph.D., Mayor, City of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; on behalf of the National League of Cities
• Hon. Todd Portune, Commissioner, Hamilton County, Ohio; on behalf of the National Association of Counties
• Mr. Craig Butler, Director, Ohio Environmental Protection Agency; on behalf of the Environmental Council of the States
• Mr. William E. Spearman, III, P.E., Principal, WE3 Consultants, LLC; on behalf of the American Public Works Association
• Mr. Lawrence Levine, Senior Attorney, Natural Resources Defense Council
