Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA) and Subcommittee on Aviation Chairman Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ) released the following joint statement regarding Saturday’s Asiana Airlines accident at San Francisco International Airport:

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims of Saturday’s tragic accident.  The United States’ aviation system is the safest in the world, but as Saturday’s incident demonstrates, we must always remain vigilant and work to ensure the system remains as safe as possible.  We continue to closely monitor developments of the National Transportation Safety Board’s investigation and will review the Board’s findings and any recommendations to ensure the appropriate measures are in place to protect airline passengers flying into and out of our airports.”
