Amtrak’s 2014 budget request will be the focus of a Thursday hearing chaired by Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials Chairman Jeff Denham (R-CA).

The hearing, entitled “Amtrak’s Fiscal Year 2014 Budget: The Starting Point for Reauthorization,” is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2013 in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building.

The hearing will examine Amtrak’s Fiscal Year 2014 grant request: $373 million for operations and $2.27 billion for its capital program.  The Subcommittee will also explore how Amtrak’s budget request relates to the rail service’s on-going reorganization and the upcoming reauthorization of the Passenger Rail Investment and Improvement Act (PRIIA) – one the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure’s legislative priorities this year.

Witnesses invited to testify at the hearing:

  • Joseph H. Boardman, President and CEO, Amtrak
  • Joseph C. Szabo, Administrator, Federal Railroad Administration

More information about the hearing, including testimony, additional background information, and link to live webcast, will be posted here as it becomes available.
