Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO) statement following the President’s State of the Union address:

“Since President Trump returned to office, we’ve seen the economy rebound from the disastrous polices of the Biden Administration. As part of President Trump’s agenda, Congress passed legislation to lower taxes for hardworking Americans, grow our economy, secure our borders, and unleash American energy. We made historic investments in the United States Coast Guard, allowing the Service to play a larger role in border security, acquire important assets to better compete with China and Russia in the Arctic, and revitalize American shipbuilding. The Trump Administration has prioritized the modernization of our air traffic control system to enhance the safety and reliability of America’s aviation system. Through important permitting reforms, we are supporting economic growth and American energy independence, which were stifled under the previous Administration.

“I also commend the President for proposing the ‘Dalilah Law,’ legislation to prevent states from issuing commercial driver's licenses (CDL) to illegal aliens and increase safety on our roads. It’s only commonsense that truck drivers and people operating with CDLs in the U.S. should be able to read English and understand our laws, road signs, and law enforcement officers.

“Thanks to President Trump, the United States is once again a leader on the world stage. I look forward to working with the President on our shared priorities, including the upcoming surface transportation reauthorization bill, the most significant of its kind since the creation of the federal highway system.”
