Committee Leaders’ Joint Statement Following NTSB Board Meeting on DCA Midair CollisionTransportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO), Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Ranking Member Rick Larsen (D-WA), Aviation Subcommittee Chairman Troy E. Nehls (R-TX), and Aviation Subcommittee Ranking Member André Carson (D-IN) issued the following joint statement regarding today’s National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) meeting on the January 29, 2025, midair collision at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport between American Airlines Flight 5342 and a UH-60 Army Black Hawk helicopter: “As we approach the anniversary of the tragic DCA mid-air collision, our thoughts and condolences remain with the families of the victims. We greatly appreciate the work of the NTSB, and now that they have met to finalize their findings and recommendations, we will review those along with the agency’s final report as we work to address the issues raised and determine the Committee's next oversight and legislative steps. We remain committed to protecting travelers and making the U.S. airspace as safe as possible.” |
