T&I Republicans’ Letter Requesting DOT Risk Assessments for IIJA FundingOn November 14, 2023, Committee Republicans sent a letter to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg requesting copies of the Department of Transportation’s “improper payment and fraud risk assessments” for programs that received funding from the Investment in Infrastructure and Jobs Act (IIJA). The Department’s Fiscal Year 2023 Budget Highlights states that the assessments will be completed by the end of Fiscal Year 2023. These risk assessments will aid the Committee in its effort to prevent waste, fraud, and abuse within programs receiving IIJA funding and shed light on whether DOT is serving as a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars.
