Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA) and Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee Chairman Garret Graves (R-LA) released the following statement on the President’s Waters of the United States (WOTUS) executive order:

“We applaud the President for today’s executive order and for standing with the states and local governments, and America’s farmers, manufacturers, businesses, and communities, who all voiced strong concerns with the Obama Administration’s flawed and ambiguous WOTUS rule, its expansion of federal power, and the threat it posed to private property rights across the United States.

“The previous Administration was committed to putting interest groups ahead of hard working American families and businesses.  President Trump’s executive order shows strong leadership that we hope will result in a much better rule that takes into account the interests of the American people while protecting clean water and health through practical regulation.”
