Joint Hearing to Focus on Preventing Nuclear Smuggling, Other Risks at U.S. PortsThe Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure’s Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation and the Committee on Homeland Security’s Subcommittee on Border and Maritime Security will hold a joint hearing next week to examine the efforts of the Department of Homeland Security to prevent the smuggling of nuclear materials in U.S. ports and other port security risks. The hearing will focus on issues such as small vessel threats and container security. The joint hearing, entitled, “An Examination of the Maritime Nuclear Smuggling Threat and Other Port Security and Smuggling Risks in the U.S.,” is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2016, in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building.
