Roundtable to Focus on Aviation & Public-Private PartnershipsThe Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s Panel on Public-Private Partnerships (P3s) will hold a roundtable policy discussion next week on opportunities for aviation and P3s. Day to day operating revenue for an airport comes from a variety of sources including airline rents, usage fees and charges, and concessions. Funds for airport construction projects also come from a variety of sources including the federal Airport Improvement Program (AIP), passenger facility charges (PFCs), bonds, and state and local funds. While there are some examples of public airport authorities partnering with the private sector and airlines for some infrastructure improvements in the United States, the Panel will examine whether more P3 opportunities exist for aviation infrastructure. The Panel will discuss the existing Federal Aviation Administration airport privatization program and discuss lessons learned from those who have participated in the program. The roundtable policy discussion on “Opportunities for Aviation and Public Private Partnerships” is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building. This roundtable will be webcast here. Participants:
The Panel on Public-Private Partnerships is chaired by U.S. Rep. John J. Duncan, Jr. (R-TN), and is tasked with examining the use of and opportunities for P3s across all modes of transportation, economic development, public buildings, water, and maritime infrastructure. # # # |
