Opening remarks, as prepared, of Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO) from today’s hearing entitled, “Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Member Day”:
Today, I look forward to Members sharing their policy priorities for the 118th Congress. The Committee has a busy and aggressive agenda this Congress that includes enacting commonsense policies for a more innovative, resilient, and efficient transportation and infrastructure network.
Looking ahead to the next few months, we have multiple items that must be reauthorized by the Committee. This includes a five-year reauthorization of the FAA. We also will pass a pipeline safety reauthorization and a Coast Guard bill. In addition, the Committee will address supply chain challenges and bottlenecks.
Throughout our busy schedule, we will continue our oversight of the Administration to hold it accountable for its policies. We are looking at the Administration’s implementation of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to make sure they are following the law. At the end of the year, we will begin working on a bipartisan Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) for 2024 -- something our committee has done every two years.
As we advance our legislative agenda, it is important we gather input from Members of Congress as well as stakeholders. Today, we will hear from our colleagues about the transportation and infrastructure needs, projects, and policies important to their districts.
