Chairman Graves Statement on FHWA Greenhouse Gas Emissions RuleStatement of Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO) on the Federal Highway Administration’s Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Final Rule: “It’s not surprising the Biden Administration, looking to once again circumvent the will of Congress, released this turkey right before Thanksgiving. This GHG rule seeks to implement policy that Congress specifically excluded during the development and passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). IIJA included provisions to address transportation related environmental impacts and transportation resiliency, but Congress considered and ultimately rejected the inclusion of a GHG performance measure requirement during negotiations. We will work with our Senate colleagues to hold the Administration accountable and ensure that the law is implemented as it was written – not as the Administration wishes it had been written.” |
