Hearing to Focus on GSA Construction & Reducing Federal Office Space Costs

The Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management Subcommittee, chaired by U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta (R-PA), will hold an oversight hearing next week on major federal building construction projects of the General Services Administration (GSA), the agency’s authorities to carry out real estate transactions, and how to ensure taxpayer dollars are protected.

The GSA acts as the landlord for the federal government, and the hearing will focus on major GSA projects planned in the near term, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) headquarters consolidation and courthouse construction program, and related issues.  The Subcommittee continues its work to reduce federal office space costs and save taxpayer dollars.

The Subcommittee hearing, entitled, “Saving Taxpayer Dollars by Reducing Federal Office Space Costs,” is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building.
