U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA) announced today that he plans to schedule a hearing on issues related to the recent Amtrak accident in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

“I am appreciative of the all the work being done as this accident investigation continues,” said Chairman Shuster.  “Obviously, the results of this investigation will be critical to understanding all the circumstances involved in this tragic incident.  It’s also important for Congress to assess and understand the related safety and infrastructure policies currently in place in order to determine what next steps may be necessary, and I intend to hold a Committee hearing on this issue sometime after Memorial Day.”

Further details of the hearing will be announced at a later date.
