The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, chaired by U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster (R-PA), will hold a hearing next week on reauthorizing the federal surface transportation programs and the perspectives of state and local governments.

The Committee continues to develop a long-term surface transportation bill that improves America’s infrastructure and competitiveness, provides economic growth, and helps create jobs.  The current extension of surface transportation law will expire at the end of May.  This is the second in a two-part series of hearings on surface transportation reauthorization; USDOT Secretary Anthony Foxx testified at the first hearing in February.

The hearing, entitled “Surface Transportation Reauthorization Bill: Laying the Foundation for U.S. Economic Growth and Job Creation Part II,” is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building.

Witness List:

- The Honorable Patrick McCrory, Governor, State of North Carolina; on behalf of the National Governors Association
- The Honorable Ralph Becker, Mayor, Salt Lake City, Utah; on behalf of the National League of Cities
- The Honorable John Cox, Director, Wyoming Department of Transportation; on behalf of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials

More information about the hearing, including testimony, additional background information, and a live webcast, will be posted here as it becomes available.
