Hearing to Examine Effects of U.S. Energy Renaissance on Transportation SystemThe effects of the Nation’s energy renaissance on the U.S. transportation system will be the focus of a hearing next week by the Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials Subcommittee, chaired by U.S. Rep. Jeff Denham (R-CA). Over the last several years, domestic oil and gas production has increased due to technological advances in resource recovery methods, and the U.S. is now the world’s largest producer of petroleum and natural gas. This growth in production has also resulted in an increased need for transporting these energy products – most commonly done by pipeline and rail. The Subcommittee will examine the nexus between energy production and private infrastructure investment. Next week’s hearing, entitled “How the Changing Energy Markets Will Affect U.S. Transportation,” is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building.
