Railroads Subcommittee to Examine Challenges Facing CA High Speed Rail Project

Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials Subcommittee Chairman Jeff Denham (R-CA) will hold a hearing on Wednesday to examine challenges facing the California High Speed Rail project.

The project is the largest in the High Speed Intercity Passenger Rail program administered by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), but recent state court actions have raised new concerns regarding availability of funding to complete the project. The Subcommittee will explore the risks posed by these recent developments and the FRA’s plans to protect the federal taxpayers’ dollars.

The hearing, entitled “A Review of the Challenges Facing California High Speed Rail,” is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building.

Witnesses invited to testify at the hearing:

  • Mr. Dan Richard, Chairman of the Board, California High Speed Rail Authority
  • Ms. Alissa Dolan, Congressional Research Service
