Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Subcommittee Chairman Duncan Hunter (R-CA) will hold a hearing on Wednesday to examine why the Coast Guard is not meeting its mission performance targets and whether those targets are truly achievable, given the variety of its missions, the condition of its assets, and the resources available.

The Subcommittee will review what steps the Service is taking to set realistic performance targets and acquire and maintain the capabilities necessary to meet such targets.

The Subcommittee hearing, entitled “Coast Coast Guard Mission Execution: How is the Coast Guard Meeting Its Mission Goals?” is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building.

The Subcommittee will receive testimony from Vice Admiral John P. Currier, Vice Commandant of the United States Coast Guard.

More information about the hearing, including testimony, additional background information, and link to live webcast, will be posted here as it becomes available.
